Welcome Post

First, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to those of you that do not know me, and share a little more about myself with those that do.

My name is Sidney Parfait. I am the publisher of DropWatch.com, a subscription-based online suite of comprehensive, fast-track research and management tools for domain professionals. I am also the developer of the popular online Google pagerank utility, PRLookup.com.

My career background is primarily sales related. I began my trek in the sales in the early 90’s, working as a telemarketer for one year, selling anything from long distance plans to Christmas cards. My gift for closing sales resulted in accelerated promotions, first to manager of the telemarketing room, then to the sales force of the parent company. Newton and Associates (a commercial debt recovery and credit consultation firm), the parent company of the telemarketing firm I worked for, then promoted me to senior vice president of marketing.

After working in this position for 2 years, I came to realize that there were no further advancement possibilities within the firm. The commissions were generous for the work that was being performed, but I was far from satisfied. After closing a deal to handle the collection of all debts and vendor fee credits owed to Montgomery Ward after they filed bankruptcy, I decided to venture out on my own and explore the opportunities of the Internet.

Having purchased my first computer only 6 months prior, I was totally new to the internet, but was intrigued by the constant growth and endless possibilities that I saw available. Ebay, in particular, caught my eye as an intriguing marketplace, So I set forth on learning html and scoured the net for the right products to sell. I settled upon a few items that were already popular on Ebay, but not flooded with competitors. After selling these items for about a year and becoming more and more intrigued with what made a computer tick, I decided to try my hand at my own website in order to nurture repeat customers of Ebay sales. However, after initially registering a domain and launching the website, I became sidetracked with new items that were really taking off on Ebay.

A year later, as my domain name was about to expire, I stumbled upon snapnames.com, while scrambling to figure out how to renew my domain. That moment triggered my discovery of the domain marketplace and infected me with a terminal case of Domainitus Roundtheclockus, which requires 18-20 hours a day of online therapy.

As my understanding of the domain marketplace evolved, I saw a niche demand for comprehensive expiring domain intelligence which had not yet been fully exploited. So I set out to fill that void by partnering with a brilliant Romanian coding expert. Six months later, we launched the Dropwatch.com beta site, which has since evolved into a pretty remarkable suite of domain research utilities. Although Dropwatch requires almost constant code maintenance and adaptation in order to keep-up with the ever-changing drop services and maintain live IP channels to source data providers, loyal subscribers keep us afloat and justify our continuing effort.

With less than two years in the domain business, I still feel that I have much to learn and look forward to , and plan on sharing much of my knowledge here.

Thanks again for visiting.

Best Regards,

Sidney Parfait
